Location: Castle Cary
Contract: Permanent – Full Time 37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 6:00am to 2:00pm
Rate of Pay: £13.40 per hour

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Cleaning & Hygiene Team Leader to join our team at the Mars manufacturing site in Castle Cary.

Supporting the Cleaning & Hygiene Supervisor, you’ll help coordinate the day-to-day activities of the cleaning team, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety are maintained across the site.

This is a hands-on role, so you’ll work alongside the team while providing guidance, supporting new colleagues and helping ensure cleaning activities are completed safely and to the required standards.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Report any safety, quality, equipment or maintenance concerns promptly
  • Support the day-to-day organisation and leadership of the cleaning and hygiene team
  • Take a hands-on approach, working alongside the team to maintain high cleaning standards
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture and Zero Harm Mindset
  • Support the training, induction and buddying of new team members
  • Monitor cleaning standards and escalate any concerns to the Cleaning & Hygiene Supervisor
  • Manage PPE stock, including maintaining records, ordering and issuing supplies
  • Help create a positive, collaborative one-team environment

 What We’re Looking For

  • Previous cleaning or hygiene experience, ideally within a manufacturing or similar environment
  • Experience supporting or leading a team would be beneficial
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures
  • A hands-on, proactive approach to leadership
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Clear and confident communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support others
  • A strong commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety
