About the role

Are you an experienced Chef looking for a rewarding role in a professional corporate catering environment? Sodexo is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and customer-focused Chef to join our team at Johnson Matthey in Reading.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a busy, client-facing environment, delivering high-quality food and exceptional service to staff and guests while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and customer satisfaction. You will play a key role in supporting daily catering operations, contributing to hospitality services and ensuring an outstanding dining experience for all customers.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Prepare and present high-quality meals, ensuring excellent food quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver catering and hospitality services in line with client and company standards.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety, allergen management, hygiene and health & safety compliance.
  • Support kitchen operations, including stock control, ordering systems and monthly stocktakes.
  • Complete all required due diligence records, including temperature checks, production sheets and allergen documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider catering team, supporting training, special events and the smooth running of daily operations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Chef within a busy, customer-focused catering environment.
  • NVQ Level 2, 706/2 Chef qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, allergen management and health & safety requirements.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and communication skills, with the ability to perform well under pressure.
  • A proactive, flexible approach with a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service and high standards of food quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with confidence using catering management and computer-based systems.
