Job Description:
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Chef to join our team. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality catering services, preparing and serving meals to the highest standards, and ensuring excellent customer satisfaction.
Working as part of a collaborative catering team, you will support food preparation, cooking, presentation, service delivery, and food safety compliance while maintaining a clean, safe, and professional working environment.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare, cook, and serve meals in accordance with approved recipes and menu specifications.
- Ensure food is cooked, stored, and served at the correct temperatures.
- Monitor and record temperatures of fridges, freezers, hot cabinets, and serving areas.
- Support food preparation, presentation, storage, and disposal activities.
- Assist with hot plate service and live cooking where required.
- Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and cleanliness.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Assist with receiving, checking, and storing deliveries.
- Report accidents, near misses, and faulty equipment promptly.
- Complete opening, closing, and handover procedures in line with company requirements.
- Attend team meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews as required.
- Support the wider catering operation and undertake additional duties as directed by management.
What You Bring:
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar catering, hospitality, or food service role.
- Relevant catering qualification such as NVQ Level 2 or 3, City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2, HND, BSc Catering, or equivalent.
- CIEH Level 2 Food Safety qualification (or equivalent).
- Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standards and procedures.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within a military or defence environment.
- IOSH qualification or equivalent.
- Customer-facing experience.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
