Job Introduction

As a Kitchen Porter at Sodexo Royal Stoke Hospital, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our kitchen running smoothly, working behind the scenes to support our chefs and ensure every dish is served to the highest standard.

What you’ll do:

  • Carry out a range of kitchen porter duties in line with schedules and supervisor instructions
  • Comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) legislation and standards
  • Take responsibility for personal and team health & safety, ensuring no risk to others
  • Deliver ad hoc food and equipment items to wards and clinical areas
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to support catering service delivery
  • Complete daily records and documentation accurately and on time
  • Move food trolleys and equipment safely, following procedures and escalation routes
  • Maintain hygiene, cleanliness, infection control, and ensure equipment is properly cleaned, serviced, and operational

  • Strong communication and listening skills with a focus on excellent customer care
  • Emotionally resilient with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to respond quickly to change
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements in the workplace
  • A reliable team player who can also use initiative and work independently
  • The ability to stay on your feet and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn new skills (e.g. food safety, health & hygiene)
