Job Introduction

Chef De Partie

Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, RG45 7PU

40 Hours per Week | Monday – Friday | Term Time Only
Competitive Salary + Excellent Benefits Package

Located within the stunning grounds of one of the UK’s most prestigious independent schools, this is an exciting opportunity to join the catering team at Wellington College — a world-renowned school known for excellence, innovation, and exceptional hospitality standards.

At Sodexo, food is more than just service — it’s about creating memorable dining experiences for students, staff, and guests every single day. We’re now looking for a passionate and talented Chef de Partie to join our vibrant kitchen team within the V&A Café.

Why Join Wellington College?

This is not your average catering role. Working at Wellington College means becoming part of a premium hospitality and catering environment where quality, creativity, and presentation truly matter.

You’ll work alongside experienced chefs in a professional kitchen that delivers fresh, nutritious, and beautifully presented food within a prestigious educational setting.

Whether you’re looking to develop your culinary skills further, gain experience in high-quality contract catering, or progress your career within a globally recognised organisation — this role offers genuine opportunity.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Chef de Partie, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen and maintaining the high standards expected within Wellington College.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and cooking fresh, high-quality dishes to an exceptional standard
  • Supporting the Executive Head Chef and Senior Sous Chefs with daily kitchen operations
  • Assisting with food preparation, service, stock control, and food presentation
  • Ensuring food is prepared with care and attention, particularly around allergens and dietary requirements
  • Maintaining excellent hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness standards at all times
  • Assisting with stock ordering, stock rotation, and deliveries
  • Supporting the setup and delivery of hospitality events, themed days, and special functions
  • Helping to minimise food waste and maintain portion control standards
  • Contributing creative ideas for menus and service improvements
  • Building positive relationships with colleagues, students, staff, and guests
  • Supporting a collaborative, professional, and positive kitchen culture

You may occasionally be required to support events outside of normal working hours, for which overtime will be paid.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a busy, professional kitchen team.

Essential:

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or within a similar professional kitchen role
  • Passion for food and delivering outstanding customer service
  • Strong organisation skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high standards
  • Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and kitchen hygiene practices
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Positive attitude and strong team-working approach
  • Flexibility and willingness to support wider catering operations when needed

Desirable:

  • Experience within education, hospitality, or contract catering environments
  • Experience supporting hospitality or event catering
  • Pastry knowledge or experience
  • Experience contributing ideas to menu development

An Enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.

What We Offer

Working with Sodexo means more than just a job — it’s a chance to build a rewarding career within a company that truly values its people.

Benefits include:

  • Term Time Only working pattern
  • Competitive salary
  • Equated pay across 12 months
  • Opportunities for progression and development
  • Access to over 1,900 retailer discounts
  • Pension scheme
  • Gym and wellbeing benefits
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
  • Full training and ongoing support
  • A supportive and welcoming team environment

Equated pay (sometimes known as spread-over pay) means your salary is evenly spread across 12 months, including holiday periods and non-working weeks, so you receive consistent monthly pay throughout the year.

Further details will be discussed at interview stage.
