Role: Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) Tutor – HMP Peterborough

We are seeking a dedicated IAG Tutor to provide careers guidance and support to prisoners, helping them build skills, gain qualifications, and prepare for successful resettlement. Key responsibilities include:

The Ideal Candidate 

• Careers Guidance: Deliver tailored information, advice, and guidance to prisoners to enhance employability and personal development.

• Career Pathways: Establish and maintain a Careers Pathway that aligns with education, skills development, and resettlement goals.

• Personal Learning Plans (PLPs): Create, update, and maintain prisoners’ PLPs on Virtual Campus.

• Support Education & Skills: Facilitate access to learning programs, distance learning, and work/skills activities, addressing barriers and encouraging engagement.

• Staff Training & Collaboration: Train prison staff on PLPs and IAG support, collaborating with teaching, custodial, and neurodiversity teams.

• Employability Development: Support prisoners in CV writing, interview preparation, job applications, and communication skills.

The Ideal Candidate

• Level 4 Qualification in Advice and Guidance (working towards Level 5 desirable; training provided for the right candidate)

• Experience working with diverse learners and individuals with varying abilities or additional needs in educational or secure settings

• Skilled in supporting disaffected or challenging individuals

• Able to build strong relationships and liaise effectively with multiple support agencies

• Knowledge of the Justice System and related protocols

• Open-minded, positive, flexible, motivated, and able to inspire and coordinate others

• Committed to equality, diversity, inclusion, and professional development, including mandatory training and security clearance

• Enhanced Level 2+ DBS check (processed via site VCP)

Package:

• Salary: £29,992.47

• Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday
