Job Introduction

We’re Hiring: Chef Manager – Oasis Academy Silvertown
303 North Woolwich Road, London, E16 2BB
Working hours that suit your life – no late nights or Christmas shifts!

Are you a passionate cook with a flair for leadership? Do you thrive in the heat of the kitchen just as much as you do managing a motivated team? If so, Sodexo is looking for someone like you!

We’re on the hunt for a Chef Manager to lead the kitchen at Oasis Academy Silvertown, where you’ll not only oversee the daily operations and finances of the school’s catering services, but also roll up your sleeves and get hands-on with cooking for over 450 hungry students each day.

This is a real cooking role, not just management from behind a desk. You’ll be the heart of the kitchen — preparing delicious meals, designing menus, and inspiring your team to deliver an outstanding catering experience for students and staff.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Cooking meals for 450+ students — fresh, nutritious, and beautifully presented
Leading, mentoring and training your kitchen team
Managing stock, labour, food costs and compliance paperwork
Planning menus, ensuring variety and creativity
Upholding food hygiene and safety standards (COSHH, Food Safety)
✅ Running regular audits and making sure everything runs like clockwork
Being the go-to leader who fosters a positive and productive team environment

What You’ll Bring:

✅ Experience cooking at scale (100+ covers minimum)
✅ A love for fresh ingredients and cooking from scratch
✅ Proven leadership skills in a kitchen or catering setting
✅ Strong knowledge of food hygiene, health & safety
✅ Qualifications like NVQ Level 2 and Level 2 Food Safety (or willingness to train)
✅ A positive, can-do attitude and passion for making a difference through food

What We Offer:

A job with real purpose in a supportive, values-driven organisation
Competitive salary
Career development opportunities with full training provided
‍⚕️ Free 24/7 virtual GP access and mental health support
Discount scheme for you (and your family!) on retail, travel and more
Cycle to Work Scheme
‍♀️ Wellbeing rewards and Employee Assistance Programme
‍ ‍ ‍ Family-friendly benefits and pension plan
Volunteering opportunities to support your local community

Be more than just a manager. Be a culinary leader. Be part of something greater.
