Job Introduction

As Chef De Partie for Sodexo at Wellington College, Dukes Ride, Crowthorne, Berkshire, RG45 7PU, you will oversee all aspects of the food and beverage operations as well as the finances for your school’s kitchen. You will be responsible for ensuring that the food and level of service are of the highest calibre and that the school catering is among the best in the region. Your attitude will influence your team's daily lives as the person they go to for direction and support, which will in turn foster a vibrant and productive work environment.

What you do:

  • Comply with statutory and company requirements.
  • Assist in all aspects of the preparation of daily food production and presentation of food to the notified standard.
  • To prepare all food with due care and attention, particularly in regards to customers’ special dietary requirements: for example, dairy or wheat allergies
  • Assist with the replenishment of food to ensure service periods do not stop.
  • Assist with the hygienic cleaning of kitchen to comply with all Health and Safety regulations.
  • Assist with the implementation of cleaning schedules to agreed standards.
  • Promote a friendly working relationship with colleagues.
  • Promote a good company image to customers and guests by using positive customer service practices.
  • To assist with the set up and presentation and execution of all catering functions.
  • To undertake occasional duties outside the normal routine but within the scope of the position and the department’s activities
  • Assisting the Executive Head Chef and Senior Sous Chefs with paperwork including stock ordering and take
  • Contribute ideas to future menus.
  • To assist, as required, at special functions, some of which may occur outside normal working hours, for which you will be paid overtime.
  • To report any complaints or compliments and take action if at all possible
  • To report any incident of accident, fire, theft, loss or damage and take action as may be appropriate.
  • To attend meetings and courses, as required

What you bring:

Essential

  • Demonstrate experience of working in a similar role within the service industry at a comparable level in a company, cooking on a large scale, anywhere between 100 – 1300 students.
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards.
  • Analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions.
  • Have experience working with fresh produce and ingredients.
  • Be aware of the importance of adhering to health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a busy Kitchen environment.
  • Be professional, leading by example and having a positive outlook is key.
  • Basic Food Hygiene and Health and Safety Certificates

Desirable

  • Proven experience of managing client relationships
  • Proven track record of leading, managing and developing a team.
  • Working knowledge of Pastry
