  • Monday shift is 1pm to 8pm and Tuesday to Friday is 9am to 5pm.

What the Job Looks Like:

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of individuals within the criminal justice system? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Prison Library Coordinator at HMP Addiewell

In this dynamic and rewarding role, you’ll be at the heart of delivering a quality library service to both prisoners and staff. You’ll coordinate library operations to ensure a seamless provision of resources that support educational programmes and purposeful activities. By promoting the benefits of literacy and learning, you’ll help cultivate an environment where knowledge and skills can flourish.

As a Library Services Co-ordinator, you’ll work closely with the rehabilitation team to ensure the library aligns with curriculum developments and offers a diverse and enriching experience. You’ll also take the lead in organising library resources, managing overdue materials, and delivering engaging sessions that promote literature, language, and culture. Whether facilitating inductions, supporting academic needs, or participating in external committees, you’ll be instrumental in developing the library to its full potential.

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential:

  • Experience in a library or community services environment.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills.
  • Proven ability to maintain high standards of customer care.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and act decisively.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of developments in information literacy.
  • Experience hosting community groups/classes.
