Job Introduction
Working within a prison means that your work directly contributes to the safety and operational efficiency of the facility and therefore a key aspect of the role is ensuring compliance with safety code and regulation. You will be expected to keep accurate records of maintenance and complete any administration actions in a timely manner. You would also be expected to be use your initiative to make decisions based on manufacturers documents, such as schematics and operational instructions.

Your primary responsibilities include the installation, testing, examination, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment within the prison. However, you will also be required to carry out a wide range of other duties. HMP Northumberland is large and varied, with buildings of various ages and uses, including residential house blocks, kitchens, classrooms, workshops, offices and of course lots of security equipment. This means that no day ever looks the same and you will be regularly engaged with new and exciting challenges.

The Ideal Candidate
- Successful completion of a recognised electrician qualification.
- Successful completion an electrician apprenticeship or have equivalent experience working as an electrician.
- Understanding of I.E.E. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Ability to collaborate within a team or as an individual where required.
- Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving work environment.
- Problem-solving capabilities to address challenges and obstacles effectively.
- Able to handle pressure while maintaining a positive outlook.
