  • £12.50 per hour
  • 20 hours per week
  • Working pattern: Mon-Fri - 7.00am-11.00am (Weekend working business depending)
  • 52 Week contract 

**Equated pay (sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. This means that you get paid equal amounts of pay every month. Further information will be supplied at interview stage.**

At Sodexo, you will be an essential member of the team working as a School Cleaning Charge Hand in Edinburgh Academy Senior School, 42 Henderson Row, Edinburgh, EH3 5BL. You will be responsible for the site's overall appearance on a daily basis, providing outstanding cleaning services in order to keep the surroundings safe and hygienic for everyone. What you’ll do:

  • Train and provide guidance to cleaning staff on cleaning techniques, use of equipment, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Assign cleaning duties, inspect work areas regularly to ensure cleanliness, and report any issues to the appropriate department.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of cleaning supplies, equipment, and other related materials.
  • Conduct regular quality checks to ensure compliance with sanitation and safety guidelines.
  • Perform administrative duties, including scheduling, attendance management, performance evaluations, and handling personnel matters.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as maintenance, to address specialised cleaning needs and resolve any facility-related issues promptly.
  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to optimise efficiency and productivity while maintaining a high level of cleanliness.
  • Provide excellent customer service to staff, students, and visitors, responding promptly and effectively to cleanliness-related concerns or inquiries.

What you bring:

  • Proven experience as a cleaning chargehand, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.
  • Solid knowledge of cleaning and sanitation practices, equipment, and chemicals.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are needed to effectively interact with staff, students, and visitors.
  • Proficiency in using cleaning equipment and knowledge of safety precautions while operating them.
