Job Introduction
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursery Assistant to join our team, providing high-quality care and education for children up to the age of 2 years. The role involves creating a safe and stimulating environment for all who work or attend the setting, while working in partnership with unit officers, health visitors, midwives, and families. Additionally, you will work closely with residents, offering support and valuable skills to help build their confidence as they prepare for release.
- To work within the nursery team to provide a friendly, caring, relaxing, and secure environment that encourages and nurtures the development of the children in our care.
- To observe, plan, and implement activities for key children, as well as group activities, incorporating festivals, cultures, and special events.
- To maintain children’s Learning Journeys and records, completing any necessary reports for safeguarding purposes or special needs.
- To take children on regular outings into the community as part of the nursery team.
To maintain good personal hygiene, such as washing hands, and follow HMP YOI Bronzefield’s Health and Safety. - To work in accordance with HMP YOI Bronzefield’s Diversity and Inclusion policy and Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults policy.
- A minimum of NVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, in childcare.
- Must be at least 18 years old, due to the nature of the environment.
- Experience working with children under the age of 2.
- A current Paediatric First Aid certificate is desirable but not essential.
Salary up to £13,416.00 per annum.
Working Hours - 21.5 hours (Regular Monday – Friday pattern)
