As a Maintenance Electrician for Sodexo at Queens Hospital Romford, you will be the go-to person, the one with the answers to everyone's questions, and the one who knows how to keep the facilities operating smoothly. You will be the specialist who will provide technical advice and support for the maintenance of equipment, building fabric, and utility services across the Queens Hospital estate.

Your role will be pivotal in maintaining the hospitals essential infrastructure. Your primary responsibilities will utilise your specialised skills and technical knowledge to undertake day to day reactive and PPM tasks on a wide range of electrical systems. These include Electrical distribution, lighting, fire detection, building control & automation, standby generator plant, security access control, CCTV, nurse call systems, HVAC & data communications.

The work activities, which are often complex and/or non-routine involve fault diagnosis & fault rectification, maintenance, and capital work across the Trust. This role will therefore suit someone who works well using their own initiative with great attention to detail and an accurate approach.

Main Responsibilities

What you'll do:

  • Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of all plant and equipment within the hospital estate, carrying out a range of repairs and new works to a high standard. You will be responsible for the service, installation, maintenance, and testing of complex plant and equipment systems.
  • Comply with all Company and Client policies and procedures, and statutory regulations, including health and safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire, COSHH. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards in your workplace.
  • Actively champion a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and staff 
  • Work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.
  • Provide technical advice and support including liaison with electrical contractors appointed on Maintenance tasks, capital projects and minor upgrade works.
  • To liaise with manufacturers regarding plant or equipment failures and to arrange the supply of goods and services
  • Work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management.
  • At all times to carry Trust/Sodexo communication devices (Tablets/ mobile phones etc) to facilitate immediate response to emergencies.
  • Undertake minor installation and improvement works.

The Ideal Candidate

What you bring

  • We are looking for a fully qualified Electrician holding a City & Guilds/NVQ qualification, or equivalent.
  • Perfect for someone who has served as an apprenticeship and is qualified to 18th Edition IET Regulations. 2391 testing also ideal.
  • Qualified Level 3 Electrical Installations
  • As Sodexo embeds a strong Safety culture in everything we do there will be procedures, site-specific guidelines/ requirements and regulations to follow so it is vital that you have a good understanding of Health and Safety at Work regulations and previous experience adhering to set engineering standards.
  • You must be a strong team player with great communication skills, who enjoys working as part of a well-established team. You must be able to work unsupervised and be able to prioritise work tasks whilst remaining calm under pressure/ You will also need to have a basic knowledge of use of a tablet or an Ipad.
  • Ability to keep work pace and meet deadlines, along with good organisation skills.
  • Great communication skills, strong teamwork, and a positive attitude
