Job Introduction

Independents by Sodexo is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Executive Chef at Churcher's College in Petersfield

As the Executive Chef, you will:

Catering Volume: Manage lunch services for approximately 1,300 pupils and staff.

Leadership Role: Demonstrate strong leadership with proven management experience.

Team Management: Directly oversee a team of 7 reports.

Health and Safety: Ensure adherence to health, food safety, and allergen regulations.

School Environment: Uphold the ethos and values of a prestigious Day Independent School.

Communication Skills: Utilise excellent communication skills; be concise and direct.

Culinary Expertise: Bring extensive culinary experience to our dynamic team.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Catering Manager, employing your strategic mindset to meet the challenges of our busy day school and its various functions.

The ideal candidate should possess a background in contract catering and school dining, with the ability to manage high-volume dining operations during peak periods. Flexibility with working hours is essential.

You'll work 35 weeks during term time and provide holiday cover for 8 weeks on rotation. Not every day within those 8 weeks will be worked; instead, some days will be scheduled throughout the year.

Successful candidates will be invited for a face-to-face interview and a trade/technical test to demonstrate their culinary and leadership skills.

  • Strong financial understanding and demonstrable in understanding budgets
  • Experienced in adhering to and driving company initiatives

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience working in a standards /compliance environment
  • Relevant qualification and training
  • IT literate

Desirable

  • Trainer / Coaching skills qualification
  • Ability to coach & mentor on a one-to-one basis
