Job Introduction

As an Electrical Supervisor for Sodexo at Queens Hospital Romford, you will be the go-to person, the one with the answers to everyone's questions, and the one who knows how to keep the facilities operating smoothly. You will be the specialist who will provide technical advice and support for the maintenance of equipment, building fabric, and utility services across the Queens Hospital estate. 

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Supervisor to join our Estate Hard Services and help improve health & safety and work efficiency within the electrical team. You will carry out a varied range of duties across a busy healthcare environment. You will be required to use your specialised skills and technical knowledge to undertake day to day reactive and PPM tasks on a wide range of electrical systems. These include Electrical distribution, lighting, fire detection, building control & automation, standby generator plant, security access control, CCTV, nurse call systems, HVAC & data-communications.

This opportunity would suit a great communicator with a hands-on approach to team management; you would be responsible for the day-to-day operation, direct management of directly employed trades staff.

Your role will be pivotal in maintaining the hospitals essential infrastructure. The work activities, which are often complex and/or non-routine involve fault diagnosis & fault rectification, maintenance, and capital work across the Trust. This role will therefore suit someone who works well using their own initiative with great attention to detail and an accurate approach.

Main Responsibilities
What you'll do:

  • Be appointed as LV and HV Authorised Person for site.
  • To be responsible for the day-to-day management of staff 
  • To provide guidance and identify necessary training for craftsmen and apprentices in order to develop additional skills to improve the person’s abilities and overall effectiveness.
  • Undertake employee Appraisals/ Performance Reviews including the identification of training and development needs.
  • Ensure good communication channel between the team.
  • Delivery of service specific on the job training technical support and advice for employees within a working group
  • Using CAFM system for Planning and the distribution of the workload for the respective mechanical and electrical craftsmen, ensuring that work is completed to schedule and the system updated accordingly.
  • Carry out diagnostic work.
  • Control/ Supervision of Specialist Sub Contractors
  • Allocation of work for both planned and reactive maintenance
  • Ensure all relevant records are kept up to date to ensure compliance with the performance criteria

The Ideal Candidate
What you bring

  • We are looking for a fully qualified Electrician holding a City & Guilds/NVQ qualification, or equivalent- C&G level 3 Electrotechnical
  • As Sodexo embeds a strong Safety culture in everything we do there will be procedures, site-specific guidelines/ requirements and regulations to follow so it is vital that you have a good understanding of Health and Safety at Work regulations and previous experience Relevant qualifications and industry experience
  • Proven consistent post qualification experience within a relevant management/supervisory maintenance role.
  • Experience of working in a maintenance environment
  • Good verbal, numerate and inter-personal skills
  • Knowledge of a wide range of electrical plant and systems, knowledge of Health and safety legislation & Statutory PPM compliance
  • Experience of working in an Acute Hospital environment.
  • IT knowledge, experience, and training.
  • Maintenance of critical electrical systems.
