Permanent 

Work pattern: 40hrs pw Monday to Friday 7-3.30pm. Occasional weekends and evenings in summer school

Job Introduction

A highly rewarding and exciting opening has arisen on our LVS Oxford school site for an experienced Head Chef to join our team.  

We are looking for a Chef with the drive and passion to manage an Independent SEN Day school catering contract and be responsible for 2 Sodexo staff at LVS Oxford.  You will be running the kitchen preparing, planning and serving meals, ordering and stock management.  

This position will suit an experienced Chef Manager with a passion for food, who is skilled in food delivery and customer experience, is good at situational decision making and has a good eye for detail. You will thrive on a challenge and have strong interest in really making a difference. 

Working alongside the onsite team you will nurture and develop individuals aligning with the site and company objectives whilst at the same time having the opportunity to develop and progress within your own role.

Main Responsibilities

  • To ensure prompt, efficient and innovative service of all catering and hospitality to the company standard and client's satisfaction.  

  • To ensure that all food is prepared with due care and attention, particularly in relation to customers’ special dietary requirements, for example, nut, dairy or wheat allergies. Assisting in completing allergen records and preservice briefing.   

  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene standards of all areas, ensuring that legal and company standards are met. Ensure all work areas and surfaces are clean and tidy, especially at the end of the shift.   

  • Ensure the segments Fresh Food From Scratch principles are applied to all areas of the business.  

  • Ensure that the legal and company regulations regarding hygiene, health and safety are complied with.  

  • To be responsible for all aspects of stock management, including ordering, rotation, storage, labelling, stock counts and delivery temp records. Assisting with monitoring food production and waste.   

The Ideal Candidate

  • Consistent supervisory experience preferable  

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team building skills, demonstrates recognition of others contribution.  

  • Previous experience in a similar role  

  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated – needs no encouragement to make things happen and displays a natural and sustained enthusiasm.   

  • Relevant vocational qualifications NVQ and food hygiene
