What you’ll do:

  • Prepare and cook high-quality meals within your designated section, ensuring consistency and presentation meet company and client expectations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation within your section, ensuring all equipment and kitchen areas are kept to the highest standards of hygiene.
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene compliance by adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
  • Assist with menu planning and development, providing input on seasonal offerings and client-specific requirements to create a diverse and exciting food experience.
  • Monitor and control food waste to ensure cost-effective operations, adhering to portion control standards and minimising waste.
  • Ensure the timely preparation and service of food in accordance with the client's schedule, managing your section to meet service deadlines efficiently.
  • Liaise with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service and effective communication between the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Work with the head chef to maintain stock levels, manage ordering, and ensure all ingredients are stored and rotated correctly to prevent spoilage.
  • Assist in maintaining health and safety standards within the kitchen, reporting any hazards or issues to the senior team.

What you bring:

  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role in a contract catering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of kitchen staff.
  • Creativity and a passion for food, with an eye for detail and presentation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Experience in a similar catering environment (e.g., corporate, educational, healthcare, or event catering).
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent qualifications).
  • Knowledge of allergen management and dietary requirements.
