Job Introduction

Sodexo has a great opportunity for an experienced Pastry Chef to join our established team working with our prestigious clients based in London. 

Joining our small team at their Paddington site, you will be responsible for the planning and running the entire pastry section, preparing & serving breakfast & lunch and other kitchen duties as required. You will be a key support to the Head Chef in providing high-end, good quality, Michelin star desserts and pastries to the required standard at the correct times to military precision and ensuring our food offering meets the levels of performance required, conforming to food hygiene standards to maintain the Company’s reputation, dealing with last minute requests & changes.

 The Sous Chef-Pastry Chef will have full autonomy over desserts & cakes to produce menu items on a daily basis to the required standard for the correct numbers at the appropriate times, ensuring all food produced in their section adheres to HACCP & Sodexo standards and achieves the required service times whilst ensuring customers are given prompt and efficient attention during service.

 You will ensure that the kitchen and all related areas are kept to the required level of hygiene with all appropriate daily documentation completed, ensure all orders are placed with the nominated supplier and liaise closely with the Front of House team on a daily basis and report any customer incidents/comments to the Head Chef as a matter of urgency and support in the completion of appropriate documentation. 

Working in a fast-paced and busy environment, you will be passionate and proud of the contribution your role plays in the smooth running of the catering department, attend any training courses & meetings as requested, support training to the junior members of the catering team and carry out any reasonable request from any member of the management team.

Your expertise in preparing a variety of mouth-watering desserts and pastries, combined with your creative flair in developing unique tastes and recipes, will be essential in delighting our customers.

 

About You  

Experience and knowledge requirement for this role: 

  • At least 2 years’ previous culinary arts experience, ideally in contract catering for hotels 
  • Good interpersonal skills enabling good relations with customers, Clients and colleagues 
  • Exhibits characteristics of Service Spirit, Team Spirit and Spirit of Progress
  • Willingness to receive, understand and implement Sodexo and Client training 
  • Flexibility & adaptability is required as there will be times when you will need to help the wider team
  • Smart, clean appearance with a strong emphasis on personal hygiene
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to an excellent standard
  • Identifies and communicates potential problems to Head Chef 
  • Ability to organise oneself and prioritise tasks and work alone
  • Ability to complete maths to a reasonable standard 
  • Displays a passion for food and customer service 
  • Assist with team huddles, training of staff and the use of all Sodexo systems
  • Plan street food and theme days
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Assist with marketing calendar
  • Copes well under pressure

Qualifications required:

  • 706 1 & 2 or equivalent essential
  • City & Guild or NVQ Equivalent
  • Health & Safety qualification
  • Food Safety qualification
  • HACCP / Food Safety 
  • Allergen training
